Users of the HIAC PODS were able to use these devices for a year or two (or even more) after the product was obsoleted as it was still in calibration. Furthermore, calibration fluid was used to verify calibration. Now that we are almost three years since the HIAC PODS was obsoleted there are many PODS particle counters out in the fields that are well outside of calibration. With no service or calibration options available, users now need to replace existing HIAC PODS particle counters.
The LPA3 is more than a portable particle counter, it is a contamination monitor. The most recent HIAC PODS+ reported in ISO 4406, NAS 1638, NAVAIR, GOST, or SAE AS4059. The LPA3 reports in ISO 4406, NAS 1638, AS4059 REV E Table 1, AS4059 REV E Table 2, AS4059 REV F TABLE 2, GBT14039 and GLB420B. The LPA3 also offers options to add moisture, temperature and pressure transmitters.
Like the HIAC PODS, the LPA3 has an onboard printer. The LPA3 also has data output with free report generating and data storage software. The LPA3’s touchscreen makes for easy screen navigation.
Where the HIAC PODS used laser light refraction technology, the LPA3 uses more recent LED based light refraction technology. Why is this important? It offers more accurate sample data. Along with other improvements, sample times are greatly reduced.
