Filtration for Sealant Applications

Chase 51 Series filter is used to protect nozzles on an robotic sealant application system for a major OEM.  This high pressure filter can be used in many high viscous applications where nozzles need protection from plugging.

The automotive sealant application required a filter to protect nozzles from plugging.  The sealant was viscous at 8,000 ssu.  Flow rate of 10 GPM and operating pressure of 2,600 psi.  In this case the nozzle openings are fairly large so just 10 to 60 mesh filtration was required.

An aluminum housing with a pressure rating of 5,000 psi was used.  Connection sizes of 3/4″ to 1-1/2″ NPT were required.

For high pressure applications, we have 303 stainless steel available with a pressure rating of 6,000 psi and 316 stainless steel that also has a pressure rating of 6,000 psi.  Various filter element materials are available including, cellulose, stainless steel mesh, microglass and sintered stainless steel.

Several sizes are available to accommodate flow rates up to 50 gpm (depending on viscosity) and connection sizes from 1/4″ to 1-1/2″.

These can be used for paints, epoxies and other liquids in high pressure applications.
