Filter Socks
Filter socks are a common term for replacement bag filters or filter bags. These are all commonly used terms for the filter media inside liquid bag filters. These are available in a variety of sizes and materials.

#2 Polyester Filter Socks are normally in stock for quick ship.
The most common material is polyester felt. Polyester felt filter socks are available in micron ratings ranging from 1 micron up to 200 micron. Trade sizes range from #1 to #12 and more. Other common materials are polypropylene, Nomex and teflon. Felt LiteratureAnother common bag filter or filter sock material is mesh. Mesh bags are used to capture large particulate or to use a bag filter vessel as a strainer. The major benefit to mesh filter socks is that they can be thrown away saving time in cleaning. Nylon monofilament mesh is the most common material and is available in micron ratings from 1 to 1,000.
Some Benefits to Mesh Liquid Filter Socks:
- Micron ratings from 1 to 1500
- All industry standard and custom sizes available
- Wide chemical compatibility
- Sewn construction
- Handles standard on all bags
- Economical removal of non-deformable contaminants
- High flow/low pressure drop media
- Surface retention filtration
- Temperature ratings to 350ºF
- Polyester and nylon materials meet FDA regulations for contact under CFR21, section 177.1520
- Silicone-free construction
- Choice of steel ring or plastic flange
- Non-fiber releasing
- Good removal efficiencies
For more critical filtration requirements, high efficiency microfiber filter socks are available. Microfiber materials provide a high efficiency removal at low micron ratings. Efficiencies up to 95% with micron ratings fro 0.5 to 50 micron. Available materials are polyester and polypropylene.
